Does responsive design replace mobile apps

Posted on in For Geeks Only

Responsive web design and mobile apps both have their place in today’s mobile landscape. While responsive web design is ideal for creating a seamless cross platform user experience, mobile apps can create a customized experience that is specific to a user’s mobile device. Therefore, one does not replace the other. They simply serve different purposes.

For example, if you are a business owner, you will want to make sure you have a website that is optimized for mobile devices. To create a website that provides a seamless browsing experience on all devices from smartphones to tablets to laptops and desktops, you will want to use responsive web design.

However, once you have created a responsive website for your business, you may want to offer mobile apps that serve different purposes than your main website such as for promotions or games. You can be creative with mobile apps once you’ve established your web presence with a responsive web design.

Many businesses create apps specifically for iPhone and Android users. The possibilities for mobile apps are nearly endless. Just remember, they are more effectively used for marketing, promotions and brand enhancement than they are for a main website.
