What can I do to make my website load faster

Posted on in For Geeks Only

Does your website load slowly? If so, then you are losing visitors to your website. Some of those visitors who click away from your website may never return. Therefore, you need to resolve the problem and fast. There are a few things you can do to make your site load faster and perform at optimal speeds. If your website is heavy on files, your web design partner can reduce the size and/or the number of files on your site. This will vastly improve load times on your site’s pages, and can help improve your paid search performance and SEO.

Another thing to look at is your website host. Many times overloaded servers and shared servers are the cause of poor website performance. You will either need to contact your website host or website designer to resolve this issue. Perhaps you’ll need to upgrade your hosting service in order to resolve the problem.

A final step you may try is to gzip your files. This is sometimes recommended and can be done easily by accessing your .htaccess file. If you’re not comfortable doing this procedure, then you can always talk with your website designer and see if it will be beneficial for the performance of your website.
